Introduction

There are several product segments, such as the car audio and television markets, where manufacturers struggle between speaker placement vs. appropriate audio imaging. In a vehicle, the speakers are often located in the lower section of the vehicle's door panels, which frequently results in poor audio imaging with respect to the listener. In many televisions, such as projection and flat panel TVs, the speakers are often located below the viewing screen, which also results in poor audio imaging.

To counter these concerns, SRS Labs developed FOCUS technology, which repositions the audio image to a more desirable position for the listener. The end result is that the stereo audio image, or "sweet spot," is now at the appropriate listening level for a more optimal audio presentation.
